The generous gardener
From the Wall Street Journal -
Chelsea brings out many stars, but for the average attendee, it is an opportunity to be inspired and to take that inspiration home. Fiona Steane, a former fashion stylist, has done just that, opening her private garden in West London to the neighborhood by not erecting any barriers. "I decided two years ago to create a garden with no lawn and no railing—just flowers that everyone could enjoy equally," she says. An extra-wide, low bed of mainly white perennials spills onto the sidewalk and new plants are added to enhance the look. Ms. Steane says she gets thank you messages posted under her door on a regular basis.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, a "perennial inspiration", opens Tuesday, May 22nd.
