The MPs who voted for a referendum on the EU have Britain's real interests at heart

CAMERON BLOCKS A REFERENDUM ON THE E.U. but 66 percent of Britons BACK a referendum on European Union membership.

Plus this: “Back in 1975 people voted to join a common market. Since then it has developed without ever having had another referendum on what is now the European Union with its own national anthem, its own flag and its own parliament. European rules and regulations intrude into ever more areas of British life.” The E.U. was always a project of elites, who want to reestablish a modern version of the transnational aristocracy that Europe had prior to World War I. They weren’t big on popular votes when they seemed to have things under control; they surely don’t want one now. (Instapudit)

We are not blind.

Cameron and Clegg falsely claim that Britain can only prosper in the EU. But Switzerland, which is in Europe but outside the EU, is doing just fine: "The economy of Switzerland is one of the world's most stable economies. Its policy of long-term monetary security and political stability has made Switzerland a safe haven for investors, creating an economy that is increasingly dependent on a steady tide of foreign investment. Because of the country's small size and high labor specialisation, industry and trade are the keys to Switzerland's economic livelihood. Switzerland has achieved one of the highest per capita incomes in the world with low unemployment rates and a low budget deficit. The service sector has also come to play a significant economic role."

Shocking, isn't it.
