A Year on A Dairy Farm with an afterthought
On the family dairy farm in Gloucestershire, Richard Cornock created a book of photos for his parents. It was so well-liked, it was published then reprinted.
With warmth and humour Richard depicts "tree planting, hedge laying, ploughing fields, planting maize, making hay, calving cows, picking fruit. . .", the family, local characters, farm animals (some of them also characters) and the passing of the seasons. There are 300 images.
Afterthought: Farming, as I've heard it described in Hampshire, is far more exciting than I ever dreamed. And because farmers are taking risks with their own livelihood, they are likely to be tough and thoughtful.
