Heroism in Afghanistan from all three Services recognised
In the face of such gallantry and courage, one can hardly bear to wonder why they are in Afghanistan.
Among 136 members recognised in the Operational Honours List published last Friday were Combat Medical Technician Class One Corporal Isobel Henderson from the Royal Army Medical Corps. She treated the wounded at a lone checkpoint which came under attack more than 60 times.
Another recipient was Warrant Officer Stephen Bowden from the RAF. He fought a massive fire at Camp Leatherneck, which was fuelled by winds of 60 mph and was threatening a fuel installation containing one and a half million gallons of fuel.
