Hugh Hewitt interviews Ken Follett

Ken Follett has accomplished the extraordinary achievement of having written 27 books, many of them very popular. Surprisingly humble, he says that the first ten were not very good. He has just published the first book in a trilogy about the 20th century, Fall of Giants.

Follett may not be Dickens, but he knows a great deal about many things, and both of us have been illuminated and entertained by his work. Many beautiful and grotesque scenes in Pillars of the Earth remain vivid in memory. As Hugh points out in his extensive radio interview, Ken may have created that rare item, a major fictional character who is good (Prior Phillip in Pillars).

Hugh is a generous, well-briefed host. His interview covers the books, Ken's early life, politics and writing craft.
