"May she defend our laws"?

The national anthem of the United Kingdom, God Save The Queen, is performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with the Fanfare Trumpeters of Her Majesty's Royal Marines.

In the video, The Queen listens as the anthem is sung. She must have heard these words a thousand times. The second verse encapsulates the Coronation Oath and the Covenant she made with her people.

It is the Covenant made by every monarch. Many of those who did not keep it lost their crowns -

. . .May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen.

It would be a pity if The Queen believed that our laws referred to whatever statutes MPs have recently thrown on the books. History tells us that our laws refer to the great Constitutional laws that protect justice and liberty. Statute laws that conflict with or undermine those laws will be refused Royal Assent by a Sovereign who understands British history and the Coronation Oath.

It's wonderful to hear the voices. . .

I'm a rednecked, Southern thinking Anthem crying American. So how did Anglophile emotions get caught up in the mix? No matter, play the Star Spangled Banner and I cry, play God Save the Queen and I do the same. Sure wish your pound was more gentle to us, I'd be perfectly happy 'over there'!

Thanks, Virginia. The melody of 'God Save' is the same as 'My Country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty', and we both love that one.

Over the last 60 years successive British non-governments have trashed the British constitution. The monarch has stood by & watched as the nation has also been trashed at the same time by the pc ideologues!
