British men who loved and honoured their wives

Clementine Churchill

Alfred the Great

Simon de Montfort

John Lilburne

John Adams

George Washington

William Wilberforce

Winston Churchill

When I look at the most important male players in Britain's history of freedom (including two British subjects who established the United States and the US Constitution), I am struck by the biographical fact that each of them loved and honoured his wife.

Not everyone can be so lucky.

Is it significant that they loved and honoured their wives?
