The trees will not be in leaf, but Charlie will see the wrought iron gate-screen at the entrance to the park. It was created by Robert and John Davies of Bersham between 1712 and 1719.
Looking at that gate and the garden beyond, I think of American travel writer Bill Bryson, the President of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, who was recently quoted in the National Trust Magazine - “I genuinely feel lucky that I’ve had this long attachment to Britain. It’s a fantastic place, and my life is a thousand times richer here than if I were living elsewhere.”
