Thank you, Princess, for not wearing a scarf

If pretentious social commentary is anything to go by, the Guardian is terribly uncomfortable in presenting a portfolio of images of Diana, Princess of Wales, on this, the tenth anniversary of her death.

There are many gifts of love for which her sons and friends thank her, and many people are profoundly grateful for her campaign against land mines. I and I daresay millions of women thank Diana for not wearing a scarf or anything resembling a hijab while travelling in the Mideast.
