Irishman Padraig Harrington and the Open's 18th hole

"As it did eight years ago, Carnoustie’s 499-yard par-4 18th hole played a central role" in this year's Open. "'To try to win a tournament on that hole, there’s just trouble everywhere,' Harrington said."

And the trouble was, he had to play it again in the playoff.

Carnoustie's 18th defeated Garcia, but not Harrington, who came back from behind to win the Open and golf's priceless claret jug.

Harrington's little son went sprinting into his arms. Wife Caroline brought her husband the flag of Ireland. They all celebrated with caddie Ronan Flood. Even the sun came out.

Nice to see the cup in Irish hands.
