Falklands War ends 14 June 1982

Britain's defeat of Argentina and the end of the Falklands War meant the Falkland Islanders saw their democratic freedoms restored. They wished to remain British citizens, and they did. For more details, scroll down the Liberty Timeline.

The bravery, ingenuity, and ability of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Merchant Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force operating were widely appreciated.

I saw tyranny firsthand in Eastern Europe. (My background is English, Irish, and Czech.) I received my degree in Classical Greek from Columbia University, New York, worked in publishing in the United States for twenty years, and helped the homeless for seven years.
