British Rock Rocks
I noticed with interest that the International Herald Tribune has listed the great rock operas. The top seven include five British productions, one Canadian, and one American.
The Who - Tommy. This opera was performed at the Metropolitan Opera House and has been made into a Broadway Musical.
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. This was the band's last production before Peter Gabriel left.
Pink Floyd - The Wall has been staged a number of times, and turned into a film in 1982.
Iron Maiden - The Seventh Son of the Seventh Son
Marillion - Brave. This has been made into a film.
Rush - 2112. This is a Canadian production.
It's all great music, and it's fascinating to see that in this genre British bands still dominate the stage.
